Θέμα: Εικόνα και επιστημονικός λόγος στην αρχαιολογία του προϊστορικού Αιγαίου

Subject: Image and disciplinary discourse in the archaeology of the prehistoric Aegean

 

Περίληψη: Η αρχαιολογία ως επιστήμη στηρίζεται εξίσου στην εικόνα όσο και στη γλώσσα για να εκφράσει τα πορίσματα της έρευνας. Το σεμινάριο εστιάζει στη θέση και τη λειτουργία των εικόνων (φωτογραφιών, γραμμικών σχεδίων, αναπαραστάσεων) στις τελικές δημοσιεύσεις προϊστορικών ερευνών πεδίου στο Αιγαίο. Εξετάζεται ο αριθμός και η αναλογία διαφορετικών ειδών εικόνων σε σχέση με τους ερευνητικούς στόχους της κάθε δημοσίευσης και τους αντίστοιχους τρόπους παρουσίασης, μελέτης και ερμηνείας των υλικών καταλοίπων σε αυτή. Στόχος του σεμιναρίου είναι η κατανόηση των εικόνων ως σημαντικών  εργαλείων στη διάθεση του αρχαιολόγου και η άμεση σύνδεσή τους με το επιστημολογικό του/της υπόδειγμα. 

Summary: Archaeology as a discipline is based upon the image as much as on language in order to express the results of its research. The seminar focuses upon the place and function of images (photographs, linear drawings, representations) in final publications of prehistoric field research in the Aegean. It examines the number and ratio of different types of images in relation to the research goals of each publication and the related ways of presenting, studying and interpreting the material remains in it. The aim of the seminar is the understanding of images as important epistemological tools in the disposition of the archaeologist and their direct link to his/her epistemological paradigm.
