South East European and Middle East Studies
The Centre for Southeast European History at the University of Graz/Austria was founded in 1970. Years have passed, and we have hardly realized that we have to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year. Ananniversary is always a good opportunity to establish something new forthe future in order to encourage a brand new generation of scholars. Therefore, we would like to ask for your support concerning our newpublication series SEEMES (South East European and Middle East Studies):see www.seemes.at
SEEMES constitutes a peer-reviewed study series, which serves as aplatform for young scholars who have recently finished their PhDs. SEEMESaims to publish innovative and excellent research on the history andculture of South-East Europe and the Middle East from the 15th to the 21stcentury. Trans- and interdisciplinary approaches are more than welcome.SEEMES offers, for the first time, the opportunity to publish papersaddressing both South-East European and Middle East issues. Such paperswill be given priority, since they help to bridge the gaps betweenSouth-East European and Middle East Studies and emphasize the sharedhistory and 'imprints' of these areas. See further:http://www.seemes.at/aims.html
We would like to ask you to disseminate our very 1st SEEMES-call in thefollowing ways:
1. To encourage your PhD-students who recently finished or are about to
finish their thesis to participate in SEEMES-call and to send us an
abstract (max. 500 words).
A special attention will be paid to young scholars, who wrote their PhD in a language, which does not enjoy a world-wide attention. All contributions will be proof-read by an English native speaker.
2. To announce our bulletin (1 page – see mail-attachment) at the bulletin board of your department/institute.
3. To provide us with further names of experts/colleagues, who possibly would support our SEEMES-call.
For any further information please see SEEMES-call at http://www.seemes.at/call.html or contact the editorial board via seemes[at]uni-graz[dot]at
